First Week Sugar Free

So, we have decided to eat less sugar. In this house, we are massive cake and chocolate eaters. Baking, and over eating on the sugary foods is what has got us through lockdown and the Covid-19 saga, so for that, we are thankful.

I do a lot of exercise, as many of my readers will realise, exercise gets me through the day to day stresses of life.

But we have decided, enough is enough. It was getting to the point where we were all eating three cakes/ sweet things a day! Which is mad! I dread to think the calories and sugar intake in that! The three of us have also been getting a lot more headaches, which we put down to ‘sugar headaches’. So we made the cut.

One week in and we only have sweet treats on Fridays and Saturdays. It has gone well. We have all lost a few pounds in weight too!

But how to keep those sugary hunger pangs at bay?

Here is the perfect recipe for you, with only 80 calories per serving, you must give them a go.

Sugar Free Raspberry Thumb Prints

100g ground almonds
70g rolled oats
85ml milk
1tbsp maple syrup
Raspberry jam

1. Combine all the ingredients together until it forms a sticky but dough like ball.
2. Divide the mix into 12 balls and place on baking parchment, on a baking tray.
3. With your thumb, push a hole in the middle of each one, and place about 1/2 teaspoon raspberry jam in the thumb print.
4. Bake in the oven at 180°C for 10 minutes, or until slightly golden.

These can also be made vegan with a milk substitute.

What have you been cramming in over the lockdown period that you have decided to axe? Hit me up with your comments!

Keep following to see our sugar free progress!

Take care and stay safe all, Meg x
