Where are you at with your running?

Now, if you are a follower of mine, you will see that I have gone running mad. Well exercise mad actually. Not just obsessed with exercising myself but also, looking into exercise that is good for you, that targets certain areas and reading other peoples blogs.
As I have said many a time, and people laugh at me when I say this or say ‘oh don’t be so stupid’ but running is my antidepressant. I only wish I had found it sooner in my life, when I was in my teens and really struggled with bullying and personal issues. Running has helped me with this weird situation that we are in now; the lockdown.
Now, I have seen some people have started up running for the first time as their way of exercising, or like me, they have picked up the pace with it a bit. Where are you at with your running?
I’ll tell you where I am at with my running at the moment. I am at that reflection process. Thinking back to about a year ago, where I had a HUGE knock back and injured myself on a small incline in a neighboring village to my home. It was severe groin strain, that affected me in more ways than my running. I was lucky to have a really great manager at work who understood why I felt so down about it, and family and friends that supported me during my no running weeks. I was also really lucky to find a great physio who helped me and to this day I am still doing those stretches she gave me, as well as exploring new ones. So now, I am focusing on perfecting my running, working on my 5k runs, trying to get them under a certain time and doing one longer run a week.
So, in this weird time we are in, I think we should use it for reflection, and setting ourselves targets with our running or exercise regime. Reflection is really good for improving your running, or anything really, and setting yourself targets makes you want it even more and work harder. But not too hard so you hurt yourself… I have certainly learnt that one!

Lots of love and stay safe out there on your runs.
