New Year

I have been terrible with so many things this past month or so, one; with keeping my blog up to date and two; with my health.

As I’m sure most of you know, I have been in New Zealand since September 2019. I have been having a truly wonderful time. I have even got myself a hunky Kiwi!

So, back to the terrible with my health. I have been scoffing and scoffing and eating and drinking far more alcohol than I normally would. And I have therefore since being away from home put on 6kg. That is a lot! I am actually at my heaviest in my adult life.

But from this I have learnt something, in order to keep healthy and eat properly and exercise regularly, you need a routine. Which is something I no longer have. When I was at home in the UK I had a job with set hours so I was able to eat at the same time everyday and go to the gym or a run after work and at weekends. That has all gone down the toilet.

So in this last two weeks I have decided enough is enough, I need to get that routine back somehow. And in these last two weeks I have lost 1.5kg! Want to know my secret...?

I now have just fruit and a cup of tea for breakfast, I always make it two pieces of fruit, one being a banana. Mid morning a cup of coffee and NO SNACKING. For lunch I will have three eggs scrambled with some cucumber and carrot sticks, and maybe a chocolate biscuit. Mid afternoon I will have a cup of tea and NO SNACKING. For tea I would have anything form spaghetti bolognese, a barbecue or quiche, or doesn’t matter what you have for tea. It’s about period size and not snacking.

But it hasn’t been just about the cutting out the snacking or cutting down my portion sizes, it has been about this amazing app I have found; FitOn. Now, you don’t get many free workout apps. But this is! So if you can’t afford the gym, or don’t want to go to the gym, this is the app for you. There are so many amazing work outs on there similar to HIIT that get that blood pumping, and those calories burned.

So for the past two weeks I have generally done a 20-30 minutes FitOn exercise and about a 15-30 minute run four times a week. And let me tell you, I have seen results!

So if you are like me after the festive season and feeling, well let’s put it bluntly; fat! Then get the FitOn app, and sort your eating out. I already feel better for it, not sluggish, my trousers aren’t so tight. And I feel like me again! Confident in my body! Cherish the body you do have, because it is the only permanent home you will ever have.

Over and out for now!!
