What to do at a fancy restaurant

The Saturday just gone I went to a very nice, what my family would call fancy restaurant in Southwold. The Swan in Southwold do some superb food. But when you go for starter and main, there is a very important rule don’t go fish and fish or meat and meat, go fish and meat or meat and fish. 

I went fish and meat. And both were superb. To start I had mackerel two ways, tartar and smoked and it was delicious. There wasn’t a lot on the plate, but it was brilliant. Then for the main I had duck with pearl barley and braised cabbage. It was fabulous! 

Oh yeah, rule number 2, if you order steak in a fancy restaurant, make sure you do order sides. My uncle and grandpa ordered the steak, expecting there to be the trimmings with it. But no, they literally got a plate of meat. Hilarious! 

So, a different blog post from me today, but I figured I should mix it up. And I am such a foody, well my friends call me a food snob. 

So if you like great food and don’t mind bad waiting service, this is the place for you!

Why Do You Run?

So this lockdown business has got you like, I miss the gym! I need some exercise that is getting me out the house! Have you found running? People only ever find running when there is some kind of problem in their life. From a family disaster, to a redundancy, to well a weird virus causing worldwide lockdown! I started running two years ago, after my beloved grandpa died. It was also the year after my 21st birthday where my father and I fell out over very silly things. So as you can imagine my head was not where it was before. I read so many blogs and peoples stories about running where they say running saved their life. Vegan Mince Pies

 Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. This sure is a strange Christmas for us. But how I think of it is we are all in the same boat and missing out on what we are used to or wanted.  I have had so much time to experiment with my baking and this year I have made my first ever batch of mince meat, and to make it even better, VEGAN mincemeat! I know how much being a vegan is popular now, so I am sure many of you will love this! I have made some mince pies with my mince meat for friends and family and dropped them off and they are popular, so here, try this new recipe. Ingredients; 1 large apple, grated 250g dried fruit (I used currants, raisins and mixed peel) 390g glacé cherries  150g brown sugar 1 satsuma, zest and juice of 1 star anise  1.5tsp ground cinnamon  1.5tsp ground ginger   1 cup orange juice  1/2 cup port  1.
